George Gibbs, Jr.

Abstract/Description: Image shows full-length portrait of George Gibbs, Jr. (1875-1950), landscape architect with the Olmsted Brothers from 1905-1914 and 1923-1933, and Chairman of the Park and Recreation Board of the Palos Verdes Homes Association. Mr. Gibbs is standing on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with a bay and rocky outcrop visible in background. He came to Palos Verdes in 1923 as assistant to Mr. Olmsted and was one of the first to build his home in the Estates, located on Via Campesina.
