Abstract/Description: Image shows a group of golfers and officials at the Second Annual International Golf Tournament, held September 23-25, 1926 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. Identified, left to right, are: 1. James Fiske (pro golfer, Palos Verdes Golf Club); 2. Ray Palmer; 3. A.H (Ollie) Painter (official from Southern California Golf Association); 4. Leslie Hensley (first prize, low gross for 36 holes, class A); 5. R.E. Bailey (Los Angles Athletic Club); and 6. Chet S. Lynday (winner, low net for 18 holes in class A). The two-story, eleven-room Spanish-style clubhouse, visibe in background, is located at 3301 Via Campesina in Val Monte. The golf course, which was designed by George C. Thomas Jr. and built by William P. Bell, opened on November 15, 1924, with landscaping designed by the Olmsted brothers.
