Story Hour Room, Peninsula Center Library

Abstract/Description: Image shows interior view of the story hour room, with children seated on three carpeted steps and a librarian holding a book seated in front of the steps. A low table with a record player is next to the librarian, with library shelving visible in the background. Partition doors are visible to the right. Partition doors were pulled closed to create a separate room for story hour. When not in use for story hour, the area served as a juvenile seating and reading area. The tri-level Peninsula Center Library, which was designed and furnished by architects A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons, opened on July 17, 1967. The building occupied 64,600 sq. ft of floor space with library services on the main floor and parking facilities both above and below the main library floor. The Peninsula Center Library was remodeled and expanded in 1995, almost doubling in size from the original structure.
