Community Room Interior, Peninsula Center Library
Abstract/Description: | Image shows interior view of the community room, with floor to ceiling windows on one side, looking out on a courtyard. Three rows of chairs are visible in the foreground. Recessed lighting, white columns, and a bench are visible in the courtyard with landscaping in the background. The 125 seating capacity community room was located at the Peninsula Center Library front entrance on Deep Valley Drive and looked out on a landscaped courtyard on two sides. The tri-level Peninsula Center Library, which was designed and furnished by architects A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons, opened on July 17, 1967, with landscaping by Palos Verdes Begonia Farm. The building occupied 64,600 sq. ft of floor space with library services on the main floor and parking facilities both above and below the main library floor. The Peninsula Center Library was remodeled and expanded in 1995, almost doubling in size from the original structure. |
