“RHEpete” competition award

Abstract/Description: Image shows a man supporting a bicycle and a girl standing in front of a poster with a drawing of a horse wearing a hat and "RHEpete" inscribed at the top of the poster. In the 1990s, a voluntary recycling program was launched by the City of Rolling Hills Estates (RHE) with Browning-Ferris Industries, the City's trash hauler. A logo featuring a horse wearing a hat was created to promote the program. To encourage participation, a competition was held within the local schools to name the horse. "RHEpete" was selected as the winning entry. The girl in the image was awarded a bicycle for her winning entry.
