Library has digital image only, courtesy of Mutsuo Hirose. Kaname Kubota was born to Yojiro and Neriye Kubota on June 23, 1914 in Vacaville, Solano County, California. Kaname began school in Marysville and then began to use the name "Mary". After relocating with her family to Palos Verdes ca 1920, Mary and her siblings went to Dana Jr. High School and San Pedro High School in San Pedro. When the war broke out, she was sent to the Gila Relocation Center in Arizona. She married first John Furuya with whom she had two children, Janet and John. In 1953, she married James Jarrett. She passed away in 1992 in Los Angeles. |
