Schmidt Residence, 408 Paseo del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates.
Abstract/Description: | Image shows backyard of the H.L. Schmidt residence, located on Paseo del Mar in Malaga Cove, on lot 3, block 1511, tract 6886. Image shows covered patio with tile flooring and several potted plants, with tile roofing supported by plaster columns set with decorative tiles. A tile octagonal fountain is visible at left. The backyard lawn has not yet been planted, as evidenced by the dirt visible along edge of patio. The newly built, single-story stucco house, noted as "project home #7", has a tile roof, two chimneys, arched entranceways, and backyard patio. House was designed by W.L. Riseley. Landscape architects were the Olmsted Brothers, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. (1870-1957) and John Charles Olmsted (1852-1920.) This house received the Art Jury's Certificate of Honor for the most notable residence architecture of 1926. |
