Abstract/Description: | Image shows view of the Mr. & Mrs. Donald K. Lawyer residence, located on Via Coronel on lot 4, block 1373, tract 6889 in Margate. Image shows front of the two-story, fourteen-room stucco house with tile roof, chimney and attached three-car garage under construction. The woodframe structure is visible, with roof still under construction and piles of sand and lumber in foreground. Donald Lawyer was the Sales Manager for the Palos Verdes Project, 1928/29. The house received the Palos Verdes Art Jury honorable mention award for Best Architecture of 1927. It was later owned by Hans Frederick Bernard ("H.F.B." aka "Fred") Roessler (1893-1965), first mayor of Palos Verdes Estates, and his wife, Edna (1894-1987), and then later by Peter and Jeanne (née Roessler, daughter of H.F.B. Roessler) Prince. Jeanne later married Joe Hogrefe by 1992. |
