Dan Gridley is sitting in the automobile. with empty rolling hills visible in background. John A. Phillips (b. 1887) was the first son of Harry Phillips Senior. Dan Gridley (1891-1936) was a well-known American opera tenor in the 1920s and 1930s. Built in 1910 as the second home for the Phillips family, the ranch was located in Blackwater Canyon to the northeast of the present intersection of Palos Verdes Drive North and Rolling Hills Road in Rolling Hills Estates. | |
