Basketball field and tennis courts at Malaga Cove School, Palos Verdes Estates, California

Abstract/Description: Image shows view looking west at the basketball field and tennis courts of Malaga Cove School, with surrounded by lush landscaping. The grassy baseketball field was also used for volley ball, croquet and lawn bowling. Several houses are visible in the hillside in background, with the Colonel John Chambers Low residence on Granvia La Costa at far left and the Breeden residence on Via Aromitas further down the hill at right. The grammar school, built for a cost of $85,000, opened on April 5, 1926 and received an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects for the most notable school architecture in Southern California for the years 1925-26.
