The riders are identified, front to rear, as Howard Harris Towle (involved in the development of the Palos Verdes Project), and his wife, Gladys Towle, Reba Willis (manager of La Venta Inn) and George Bruner. A building known as Flotsam Castle (sometimes called "Hermit's Castle") is visible in background on the beach at left.
