Abstract/Description: Image shows group portrait of five golfers and officials gathered at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. "The Douglas Palmer Perpetual Trophy being turned over by its donor to Mr. Donald K. Lawyer, Chairman of the Greens Committee. This year's winner was Mr. Al Gruber, the promising young Palos Verdes Amateur." Identified, left to right, are: 1. Donald K. Lawyer; 2. Fulton Lane; 3. Douglas Palmer; 4. Nick Bleeker; and 5. Christy Cabanne (film director.) The two-story, eleven-room Spanish-style clubhouse [not visible] is located at 3301 Via Campesina in Val Monte. The golf course, which was designed by George C. Thomas Jr. and built by William P. Bell, opened on November 15, 1924, with landscaping designed by the Olmsted brothers.
