| Abstract/Description: | Image shows interior view of a classroom in the Gardner Building (La Casa Primera) with several desks, chairs, teacher's desk, and blackboard upon which is written "Miss Hilliard" (teacher, Mildred Hilliard) above columns of vocabulary words. The Gardner building, built by W.W. Gardner and dedicated September 13, 1925, was the site of the first classrooms, which opened September 8, 1925, and library in the community. Classes were held in the Gardner Building until the Malaga Cove School opened on April 5, 1926. | |
