Rolling Hills High School, Rolling Hills Estates, California

Abstract/Description: Image shows view looking north at the south facing facade and lawn of the campus of Rolling Hills High School, located at 27118 Silver Spur Road in Rolling Hills Estates. The campus, designed by the Los Angeles architectural firm of Flewelling, Moody & Horn, featured a "school-within-a-school" design, with two wings, one for the 9th and 10th graders and a second for 11th and 12th graders positioned on either side of a circular library and open space used by both units. Construction on the building started in 1963 and opened in September of the following year as the second high school on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. In 1991, the high school was renamed Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, when both Miraleste High School and Palos Verdes High School were closed and the School District established one central high school on the Peninsula.
