Abstract/Description: 'The first Peninsula Music Fair took place on May 7, 1972 at Chadwick School. The day featured the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra performing in the amphitheater. The entire campus rang with the sound of music as jazz, chamber, and band groups performed throughout the campus. The Peninsula Committee for the Los Angeles Philharmonic organized this day of music appealing to all ages for more than 30 years, [held] on occasion at Palos Verdes High School, as well as at Chadwick. I worked at the first fair and later became the Peninsula Committe chairman. The Peninsula Committee was founded in 1952. Esa Pekka Salonen conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Chadwick School for the 2000 Music Fair. The last fair at Chadwick was in October 2000. After 2000 we continued for a few years and then we stopped doing the fairs, but continue doing other events. Pictured from left to right: Bobbie Farinsky, Esa Pekka Salonen, and Sharon Guthrie.
