Abstract/Description: | Image shows group portrait in doorway of the auditorium at Malaga Cove School, located at 385 Via Almar in Malaga Cove, with the second annual Colonial Ball, hosted by the Palos Verdes Woman's Club. Visible are fifteen men and women, dressed in eighteenth-century costumes. Cora Belle Cheney (wife of Charles H. Cheney), Frances Cheney (later Mrs. Sasman) and Charles "Harry" Cheney (1884-1943, city planner of Palos Verdes) are identified in pencil. Approximately 140 guests attended the ball in the auditorium, which was decorated with candlelight and cut tree branches. Malaga Cove School, designed by the architectural film of Allison & Allison, opened on April 5, 1926. |
