Library has digital image only, courtesy of Michiko Tanaka. Yuriko Miki lived with her family who farmed 200 acres of vegetables and flowers which she and her sisters sold along Palos Verdes Drive West. When Yuriko's father passed away from influenza on January 28, 1939, Yuriko and her family continued to farm the ranch until the break out of WWII. Like many other Peninsula families, her family moved to Strathmore, CA. However, she was later interned at the Poston Japanese Relocation Camp with her family. She met her husband Kay Kunso Yamasaki at the camp and had four children, Kenneth, Larry, Christine and Joanne. She passed away on September 9, 2010, at La Canada Care Center, at the age of 87. |
