Abstract/Description: | Image shows group portrait of Junior Red Cross representatives in an outdoor setting at Poston II High School. Girls in the first row are wearing knee-length skirts or dresses. The Poston II High School Chapter of the Junior Red Cross was organized on December 1, 1942 with Itsumi Oita as a temporary chairman. Later, Kaoru Takata became president with vice-president Michi Oka. Other board memebers included Alice Yamaoka (secretary), Gene Nakata (treasurer), with Mrs. Mary Courage as advisor. The organization held events such as pageants and bazaars and made donations of Christmas gifts to nursery and primary school children. Identified from left to right on row 1 (bottom row): Masuda, Takehara, Tsukamoto, T., Yagi, B. Hamamoto, Kuroda, Kawashiri, Nami, Matsueda, Kazaoka and [unknown]; row 2: Iyama, Etow, Tada, Endo, M. Hamamoto, Ichikawa, Takizawa, Abe, Deguchi, Sakasegawa; row 3: Kudo, Kato, Obana, Horikawa, Ichinaga, Yamaguchi, Yamanaka, and Oita; and row 4 (top row): Tokiwa, Nishimoto, Dohi, Tanaka, H.
