'This photo is taking looking north of the property that would later become the South Coast Botanic Gardens. The site was a former landfill site.  Location:  Palos Verdes Peninsula', Located on Crenshaw Boulevard, just below Palos Verdes Drive North, the 87 acres that make up the South Coast Botanic Gardens was acquired by the Los Angeles County Department of Sanitation from Great Lakes Carbon Corp. in 1956 for use as a cut and cover dump site.
