Malaga Cove post office entrance queue

'My experience during the “COVID“ restrictions of 2020. March: I found out my school is going to be closed, at least temporarily, due to the pandemic- it’s really scary. When I get home I told my parents, and they are shocked. After speaking with the school principal, dad got very depressed and said nothing like this has ever happened before in history. April: As my dad is not considered an “essential worker” he finds out he is being laid off temporarily from his job. He stayed in his room and barely talked to me over the next days. The 2nd Saturday, dad asked me to go for a ride with him to see how bad the situation was in local hospitals and medical centers. It was nice to get out of the house, but soon we discovered that every hospital and medical center we went to was empty! No lines of people, nothing! We asked a nurse in the parking lot where all the COVID patients were and she said “we haven’t seen any yet!” May/June: Depressed. Just waiting. July: Some places are beginning to open again, and I see dad and mom smile for the first time in months. But by the end of the month, our governor has shut pretty much everything down again. My dad and mom are angry all the time. August: Dad says he has to go to the bank to get a loan; he can no longer afford to keep things going after months of no work. It took a long time. When he finally came back he told me not to worry, but I could see he had been crying. September/October: Had to sell house and move to grandma’s ☹️.
