Jack Newman
Abstract/Description: | Growing up in The Bronx, New York, Jack has a set of close friends that have met annually for fifty plus years, despite everyone living in different parts of this country. After marrying his wife Arlene in 1953, they moved to California after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy. They met when Jack was 15, and Arlene was 13. They are presently married for 64 years, and have three children: Sheree, Jeff, and Hilary. They also have two grandchildren Shaun and Alexis, and a precious great granddaughter Harper. Jack worked as an IBM computer programmer prior to entering the Real Estate industry in 1966. In 1969 he was named Vice-President of Spring Realty. In 1975 he became a Director of the Palos Verdes Estates Board of Realtors, and three years later became their President. In 1983 he joined forces with RE/MAX Realty and has been with them ever since. He has won many accolades as a Real Estate Broker, and is a member of the prestigious RE/MAX Hall of Fame. He’s still very active in the Real Estate industry. Jack has done lots of service for the community. He helped deliver copies of the Palos Verdes Directory to many homes for a number of years and was a Director of Peninsula Seniors for 3 years. He sings bass for the past 17 years with the South Bay Coastliners, a noted Barbershop Chorus that sings at many local charity benefits, and has an annual original production featured at the James Armstrong Theater in the city of Torrance. He is also a Co-Founder of the PenVets (Peninsula Veterans) that meets once a month at a local restaurant with guest speakers that discuss veteran benefits and interesting military topics. As the diverse congregation of veterans have served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, through to the Gulf War, Jack welcomes all veterans to join this wonderful and unique group. Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Jack’s message for the world: “Stay in touch with everybody you know. We lose sight of all these people. I believe staying in touch is one of the most important things you need to do. Whether it’s by phone, email, whatever. Just stay in touch!” |
