Jim Shneer
Abstract/Description: | After graduating from George Washington University Jim moved to California. He met his wife Diane in Los Angeles and together they moved to Palos Verdes in 1970 where they raised their two sons. Jim is a retired engineering manager who spent 55 years in the aerospace industry; beginning as a research engineer on the Apollo program and ending his full-time career as Chief Engineer of the Air Force Satellite Control Network and the Air Force Spacelift Ranges at Vandenberg AFB and Cape Canaveral. For most of his career he was involved with the development of satellite ground stations and computer-assisted public safety communications systems. Jim and Diane love to travel and have visited over one hundred countries on all seven continents. They are also long-time docents at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center. Since his retirement he has lectured on ground systems acquisition, the whaling industry, military and naval history and the history of the Middle East. He has also authored several books including military and naval histories; his most recent being Exploring the Military History of Fort MacArthur and Palos Verdes. Location: Palos Verdes Estates, CA. Jim’s message for the world: “My hope is that every individual is motivated to do something positive with their lives, that they have the means, the opportunity, and the freedom to accomplish their goals in ways that are not harmful to or impinge on the freedom of others.” |
