Rachel Vincent
Abstract/Description: | Rachel was born, raised, and educated in Chicago, IL. Upon graduation from college she taught in a Chicago suburb for a year, then took a year to teach in Southern California. During that year she met her future husband and Southern California became her home. When she and Paul married they moved to Palos Verdes and after their first child was born, she quit her job and shifted her focus on raising their child. Eventually she became busy with three children, a home, and frequent visitors from her hometown Chicago. After 20 years of marriage, the unthinkable occurred – a divorce. In that period of time a personal evolution occurred for Rachel. She was pushed to make decisions about the financial future for herself and her children. The outcome was to become an entrepreneur by opening a PrintMasters franchise in 1982. Thirty six years later, long after the franchise had gone bankrupt, Rachel’s business is still operating successfully. Rachel remained good friends with her husband and was with him when he succumbed to lung cancer. After Paul’s death Rachel found out from his friends how proud he was of her. He often bragged on her for being so successful. Words that Rachel had never heard before were like a pat on the back for a job well done. Currently Rachel enjoys tennis, boating, photography, painting, drawing, ceramics, pistol shooting, reading, traveling (France is her favorite), and French language study. She has also been involved in knitting, due to her daughter’s encouragement. Location: Long Beach, CA. Rachel’s message for the world: “Some things come to us as a learning opportunity. Don’t be afraid. The power is within us to find the answer. There are no wrong answers. You only fail when you do nothing! Life is good.” |
