Louise Sowerby

Louise was born in Denver, Colorado, as the oldest of seven children. After finishing school in the post war era she worked at various jobs, got married, and had one child. Unfortunately her marriage ended after 5 years, but Louise was not one to give up easily. She moved to California with her only son and settled in Pasadena where she struggled to become established. After becoming a real estate agent, an opportunity came up in which she participated in the expansion and construction of what is now Del Amo Fashion Center in the city of Torrance which led into almost 20 years of Commercial Property Management.

Leaving property management Louise chose to purchase a small signage business and worked 17 years as the owner operator of Palos Verdes Sign & Graphix – until a heart attack forced her to slow down and she sold the business. She then became involved with the Peninsula Seniors organization as a volunteer and was shortly hired and is now Assistant to the Executive Director. She encourages older adults on the Peninsula to join this wonderful organization as it furnishes activities, education, physical fitness, games, lectures, day trips, and travel opportunities for its members. She understands that many people resist joining the organization for the fear of the word “senior” – but being a senior does not stop the learning and the fun, and this is exactly what Louise does every single day. Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Louise’s message for the world:
“Remember to keep God in your life.”
