Nancy Veits
Abstract/Description: | Fun and artistic, Nancy has an optimistic outlook on life. Born in Ohio, she didn’t think she would go to college due to her family’s financial situation. Thanks to a special high school English teacher, she was inspired to obtain scholarships so she could go to college. At an optometrist appointment while in college, she met her future husband and married him a few years later at the age of 23. Together, both of them moved to Southern California where she then became an English and History teacher at a junior high school. After giving birth to two beautiful girls who are 15 months apart, she quit teaching and started an art gallery and frame shop. It was then she became interested in painting herself. Not long after, she started a Red Hat Society in Palos Verdes, an Investment Club, and began quilting with a few friends. She loves quilting, painting, gardening, and photography because when she works on them she loses all sensation of time and space which allows her to refocus and readjust herself so that when she returns to “reality”, she returns with a fresh set of eyes. Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Nancy’s message for the world: “Go for the gusto!! Do all you can do, be all you can be, and don’t let the small things bother you. [Life] is a marvelous opportunity. Don’t waste it.” |
