Pilar Hale

Pilar was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and grew up with the dream of seeing the world. So at age 21 she went to stewardess school for American Airlines then flew with them for two years. Unfortunately in those days when women got married, they also were fired, so she became a housewife for a while to raise her two children. A few years later after her divorce, she went back to the job force then spent about 30 years in the defense industry. Along the way, she met her second husband, John Simmons, and they stayed madly in love until she lost him to cancer six years ago.

Pilar continues to travel today, and has been to about 42 countries. She is an active member of the American Association of University Women, the Peninsula Committee for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and is part of Reader’s Theater in which she acts in plays. She is also a strong supporter of the Norris Theater, and chaired the Valentine Ball twice. Location: San Pedro, CA.

Pilar’s message for the world:
“Just do your own thing, and let other people do theirs. It’s really not your business what your neighbor’s doing. You just have to take care of yourself, and that’s it.”
