Ursula Pohlman
Abstract/Description: | Born in Hamburg, Germany, Ursula was the youngest of three children and the apple of her father’s eyes. She used to enjoy the piggyback rides her father would give her, and tucking her into bed every single night. She had a pleasant childhood surrounded by her family and friends, with a big community center in the city where everyone would get together to relax and have fun. When World War II happened, her life turned upside down, as she and her family were Jewish living in Germany, and the country was transformed into a totalitarian state by the Nazis. Thankfully for a very loyal housemaid who lied to the Nazi soldiers that went to her house, the whole family escaped a frightening capture then fled the city. In 1939 Ursula immigrated to the United States with her family through the help of her father’s wealthy brother that was living in New York at the time. Eventually she found her way to Southern California, made a family for herself, and settled in the warm climate that she enjoys very much. Location: North Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA. Ursula’s message for the world: “Let there be peace in this world, among people, among governments.” |
