Judith "Judy" Herdman

Born in Santa Maria, California, Judy spent the war years in San Luis Obispo with her mother, brother, aunt, and grandmother. When the war was over and her father returned from duty in the Pacific they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and settled in the East Bay, where she grew up and went to school. After a later move to the San Francisco Peninsula, where she worked as a legal secretary, she married and moved with her husband to Chicago where he had been transferred. They lived on the 52nd floor of the John Hancock Center and she was lucky enough to find a job in a law firm in that same building so she never had to go outside during the cold Chicago winter. After a year her husband was transferred back to California and they settled in Rancho Palos Verdes where Judy has continued to live since 1977.

Judy’s working life began as a legal secretary and she eventually became a law firm administrator, a position she held for 18 years. When her husband’s home business in international import/sales expanded she quit her job and began working with him at home. In 2010 when her husband passed away after a serious falling incident it became necessary for Judy to step in and run the business herself. Fortunately she was able to rely on some very good friends to help and advise her through the rough spots during the first year.

Currently Judy continues to operate the same import/sales business from home and at the same time enjoys traveling, especially to England, exercising, creating abstract art paintings and spending time with family and friends. Each day when she wakes up she is reminded how fortunate she is to be here in beautiful Palos Verdes. Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Judy’s message for the world:
“Don’t put anything off. Do it. Life goes on, even after unfortunate things happen. Don’t waste time. Just do it.”
