Warren Stirling
Abstract/Description: | Growing up in Pasadena during the World War II era, Warren understood the importance of hard work and began delivering newspapers on his bicycle when he was just nine years old. At around age eleven, he was introduced to a children’s radio program and began a childhood career in the entertainment industry. After a few auditions, he was selected to appear several times on a popular radio show, Dragnet, which then led to parts in two Dragnet TV shows. In addition, he appeared on the Jack Benny radio show, a Tarzan adventure program, and several other shows. There also were appearances on the stage of the Pasadena Playhouse. Warren always considered himself very fortunate to be selected to perform. While he enjoyed working in radio and the entertainment industry and its handsome compensation, he kept his morning job and woke up at 4:30 every day to deliver newspapers. Much as a career in show biz seemed eminent, his father pointed out the wisdom of having steady and secure employment, and that it might be prudent to have a reliable day job. Warren directed his studies towards the dental profession and graduated from USC School of Dentistry in 1962. He established a private practice in Long Beach where he remained until retirement in 2002. Warren considered it an honor and a privilege to be allowed and trusted to treat his patients’ health needs. Currently, Warren enjoys spending time with his family and wife, Brigitte, skiing, traveling, performing close-up magic, and riding his prized motorcycles. For many years he has been quite active in the USS Johnston-Hoel Association. This is an organization which honors crewmembers of two WWII ships which were lost in The Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines from which his uncle did not survive. Location: Hawthorne, Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Warren’s message for the world: “Value in life is derived from trying to enhance someone else’s journey by helping them think and understand more clearly, to feel supported, safe, loved, important, and valuable. Your own life is enhanced by helping to build up someone else with compliments and encouragement which will help them do and be the best they can. This will allow and encourage you to do and be the best you can be as well.” |
