Joseph "Joe" and Edith "Edie" Gerson
Abstract/Description: | Joe and Edie were both born in Rhode Island. They have been married for 64 years and have lived in Palos Verdes for the last 50 years. Edie came west in 1945, attended UCLA and became a teacher after graduating in 1949. Joe was inducted into the army at age 18 during World War II while attending Brown University. He became a Radio Electronics Specialist installing and servicing radio equipment in China, Burma, and India. He lost the hearing in his left ear during an enemy artillery bombardment in Burma. In California Joe worked for Scientific Data Systems (SDS) and Xerox on large scale vacuum tube computer systems. He was the Western Regional Manager for SDS until it was sold to Xerox then chose several alternate careers until he retired. They now have two wonderful sons, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter who attends UCSB and aspires to a career in law. Location: Promenade on the Peninsula, Rolling Hills Estates, CA. Joe and Edie’s message for the world: “Use time wisely while you are here on earth.” |
