Patricia Arand

Born in Cincinnati, OH, Patricia started playing the piano when she was 5 years old and was an organist at her local church throughout high school. She was eventually sent to Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music in Cleveland by her parents, so she could become a full time organist for the church. After two years in college she was forced to return home to help her mother with the family construction business as her father had passed away suddenly. When she married her childhood sweetheart John whom was introduced to her by her father when they were both merely 12 years old, she resumed her role as an organist at her local church and stayed in Cincinnati until age 35.

The chance had come when John was offered a job opportunity out on the West Coast, so Patricia and John moved to California with their 3 children. She had picked Palos Verdes to settle due to its good school district. Finally, in 1969, she opened her own piano studio, and has enjoyed teaching and inspiring her students ever since. Currently she serves as a parliamentarian for the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC), though she was President of that same organization for two years. She also occupies her time being the Chairman of the Composers Today Youth Committee for MTAC. Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Patricia’s message for the world:
“Finish college!”
