Palos Verdes Project General Publicity Scrapbook December 1928 - August 1931

Hardcover scrapbook bound with string and "The Ideal Scrapbook" embossed on cover. The scrapbook was created by the staff of the Palos Verdes Project to document the development of the first planned residential community on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Palos Verdes Estates. Includes clippings from numerous newspapers primarily from the Southern California area, and a handful of local and national magazines. Clippings pertain to the progress made on the development including road construction, buildings, architecture, staffing, installation of utilities, landscaping and zoning but also include broader coverage of the growth and development of San Pedro, Long Beach and the general Los Angeles area. Clippings are dated and arranged chronologically and include the name of the paper from which the article was clipped., Due to the fragility and construction of the original object, not all fold-outs and article layers were captured during digitization. Fold-outs that have been digitized were captured once (as-is) to replicate the viewing experience, and once again with content unfolded to expose the artifactual significance., Digitized by the California Preservation Program through California Revealed, a project funded in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian., Label on cover notes 1927. First articles appear to date from 1928.
