Everyone thought my parents were crazy to move out here. They'd say, "why would you want to move out there; it is mostly dirt and starter homes." My parents grew up on the west side. Both sides of Silver Spur Road had smaller two to four bedroom starter homes. They bought on Silver Spur and slowly moved into larger lots. This is me with our cocker spaniel, "Sporty" on Kingspine Road in Rolling Hills Estates. "Sporty" was my first word. Then we moved to a larger house on Santa Bella Road in Rolling Hills Estates. After that we moved to Palomino in Rolling Hills Estates in Fall 1964. My mom taught at Valmonte School. My dad always wanted a house with a view but we couldn't afford it. He also wanted to live behind the gates [in Rolling Hills]. And now he has it. He stayed on Palomino until 2000 then they built their dream house in Rolling Hills with a view.
