CollectionYour Story is the Peninsula's Story CollectionContributorHart, BarbaraDescription'Another activity of the Peninsula Committee of the Los Angeles Philharmonic has been the Music Mobile. At that time, there wasn't a music consultant with the school district. The Music Mobile started in 1978. The van is literally a van filled with music instruments stored is especially created cubbies. Docents present an introduction to the instruments of the orchestra to third graders. The Music Mobile is now taken to 2,000 third graders at 23 South Bay schools each year. The first van we had in 1978 was a VW van and it was painted turquoise and lime green. It finally wore out and our Committee decided to purchase this van to replace the VW. We purchased this in about 2000. The van is used in February and March.
