Collection40 Families CollectionDateca 1935DescriptionImage shows group portrait of Masao Ashimoto (donor's uncle) an his mother, Tatsuno standing in front of a wooden structure in Lunada Bay with hills visible in the background. Originally from Tottori Prefecture in Japan, the Ashimoto family was farming on the Palos Verdes Peninsula by 1930. In February 1942, they moved from the coast to Strathmore in Tulare, County. By July 1942, the family was interned in Poston, Arizona. Fusako was sent to Manzanar with her husband's family, and Josephine Sachiko went to Topaz in Utah. NotesLibrary has digital copy only.
