Collection40 Families CollectionDateca 1952DescriptionImage shows group portrait of Yasu Ashimoto and his wife Tatsuno (donor's grandparents) taken to commemorate their wedding anniversary. Originally from Tottori Prefecture in Japan, the Ashimoto family was farming on the Palos Verdes Peninsula by 1930. In February 1942, they moved from the coast to Strathmore in Tulare, County. By July 1942, the family was interned in Poston, Arizona. Fusako was sent to Manzanar with her husband's family, and Josephine Sachiko went to Topaz in Utah. NotesLibrary has digital copy only.
