Boyd pens his karakuls in a corral or sheep fold every night. Unlike regular sheep, they will not herd into a tight knot and remain quiet. They are almost constantly on the move and, because they have an individual rather than a herd instinct, they will stray. Here Boyd releases his karakuls from the corral shortly after dawn and starts out into the Palos Verdes hills for grazing. Boyd's corral is a movable one which he moves from location to location over the 10,000 acre ranch. Tilled field in the background is a garbanzo field ready for harvest with the garbanzo plants wind-rowed for harvesting." and "10.
