It was located on Palos Verdes Highway a short distance south from the Ryoichi Hatashita farm. Although they had the same surname, they were apparently not related.
In 1942, the family moved with many other Japanese families to Strathmore, CA. However, in July 1942 the family, except Shinobu, was sent to Poston. Shinobu had been sent to Japan to attend a school for the deaf. She spent the war years with relatives in Wakayama.

Yukimi and Yoko married after they left Poston. Yukimi lived in Northern California and later died in Los Angeles. Yukimi, or Nellie as she was known, was a 1941 graduate of Malaga Cove School. Yoko married Tetsuo Shono and lives in Gardena, California. Kosuke Hatashita is identified as Number 110 in the 40 Families photograph. His wife Kazuno might have skipped the event since she was in the late stages of pregnancy with her first child, Shinobu. She gave birth 5 days after the photograph was taken.
