Inscribed on the back of the image is “Peninsula Center.” The Peninsula Shopping Center was developed by Jerry Moss and Palos Verdes Properties on a 30 acre site bounded by Indian Peak Road, Crossfield Drive, Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard. It celebrated its grand opening in May 1961. The architectural firm of Gruen & Associates were commissioned to design the project with a mix of modern and Spanish architecture.
